Yes Thanks to CHRIS LUPA (events organiser) for a fun filled afternoon. I thought that six heli's flying at the same time was quite thrilling, if not a little scary. Thomas and his 3d three turn spin was a revelation. I think that this indoor flying may be more popular than we thought.
Anyhow I just wanted to tell all you heli lovers of a site that i frequent that you might find of interest. It is the best one i have found. lots of tutorials, videos on how to learn to fly and tons more. It is based around the blade 400/450 sized helis but covers all sizes, from co-axial through to 700 size.
The indoor flying thing at the trimpell club is not part of LAMMAC, it is open for anybody that wants to come down to and have a bit of fun. If then he finds he wants to fly the bigger beasties he is welcome to join LAMMAC. So you do not have to be a member of lammac to fly with us at the trimpell. Some people are under the assumption that it is organised by the flying club. Its just a bunch of the lads from the club doing indoor flying when the weather is not flyable outside.
So you do not have to be a member of lammac to fly at the trimpell but if you are going to use tha hall more than once it would be nice if you joined the trimpell club (£10 per year) The benefits of joining the trimpell club are being able to use the facilities (if not already booked) inside for small electric flying and also the outside fields for slightly larger electric models. Also the drinks are cheaper.
Hope to see you down there on Sunday if weather is rubbish outside.
Hopefully many, if not all of you, got the message re the first indoor flying session we've held at the Trimpell Club in Morecambe (Sunday 22nd Jan).
Thanks to Chris Lupa, our new Events Organiser, who sorted this out for us and it was good to see 9 members turn up with a variety of helis and planes - even more frightening to see them all in the air at the same time - and I now don't need a shave for another week!
A great success and whilst the weather remains poor it will probably be repeated. I suggest you check with Chris prior to every Sunday pm (1pm - 4pm) before turning up.
Many thanks for the kind words, everyone! It was nothing, really, and it was great to have a good turn out. Just to echo David and Chris, the indoor flying is open to anyone who is interested so please feel free to bring family/friends as we will likely continue using the hall until the weather improves. Oh and Derek, don't worry about getting your Chris' mixed up - I haven't been that vocal in the club up until now :-)
It has just been pointed out to me over the 'phone, that I've inadvertently got my Chris's crossed !
Not being entirely familiar with all current club members surnames, I've evidently heaped praise on the 'wrong' member. For this error I humbly apologise.
In time honoured fashion, I shall now fall upon my sword.
Very Best Regards.
Derek.
p.s. On second thoughts, I think I'll go to the pub and drown my sorrows with a friend, who's also just 'phoned.
I would also like to add my congratulations to Chris on a job well done. It was very pleasant to be out of the wind and the rain, airing several seldom used models.
I for one intend to apply for personal membership, as at £10.00 per annum for an excellent facility, it is not going to break my personal bank.
If as was mentioned earlier, the use of electric powered model aircraft outdoors is also allowed, when conditions permit, it will be even more of a bargain.
Well done Chris and I hope the wrist heals well and rapidly.
The BMFA have announced their fees for 2012 and they are as follows:
Ordinary Full Membership - Seniors £ 31. Juniors £16
Family Membership - Seniors £ 31, Partners £20
LAMMAC Membership Fees for 2012 : Seniors £45, Juniors £22.50. To be paid to Bob Little by 1st Jan 2012.
For the majority of our members that means a cheque please made payable to LAMMAC for the princely sum of £76.
Please note that our club has 3 sets of 'families' and I suggest using the BMFA Family membership scheme to reduce overall per annum fees. I will send details via e-mail.
To find Bob's address please see the Members in 2011 listing.
The agenda for our AGM this year is available from the members only club documentation area (logon to download this). I will also be sending this together with election proposal forms by e-mail to those members I know have e-mail and regularly read it and by post to the remainder.
Please use this form to nominate members for election and either send it to me at home (address on the site under Members in 2011) or fill out something similar in e-mail form and send it to me. All the positions are up for renewal (as they are every year) but our current chairman cannot stand for another year, our safety officer/vice chairman is resigning as is our Treasurer so we need your input not only in your voting but also through attendance at the meeting.
If you cannot make the evening then please let me know how you wish to vote on any item on the agenda.
OK - I'm old and forgetfull but to see the above parts fall off the engine of the 'Fruit Salad', to pick them up, put them back on the plane and then go and carry the plane upside down to the car, drive home and then discover that - unsuprisingly - both the items were missing is just rubbing it in!
If anyone sees the above items buried in cow 'mud' then please could they retrieve them and let me know (I was down there on Monday in the cold at 7.30am with a torch looking for them but talk of needles and haystacks spring to mind - what mind one might ask!).
Although I will be contacting everyone by either post or e-mail relating to the above event this is just to announce that our AGM will be held this year on the Tuesday November 29th at the Trimpell Club in Morecambe with the meeting starting at 7.30pm.
An AGM is a very important meeting for any club, not only to review the past year and to select new committee members etc but for new ideas to be considered by the majority of the membership. Therefore if you have any ideas that think would benefit the club, or things we are doing that could be improved, then now is the chance to get those ideas heard and voted upon; send me please any items therefore that you would want to apepar on the agenda, and if it's complicated, some background to your idea. This needs to be done in the 10 days so that I can relay this information out to members.
I've already had a few nomination forms sent to me but remember they are avaialble for download from the members only club documentation area. Please show your interest by filling one out and sending it to me.
See you at the AGM if the weather hasn't improved!
OK, you can't go flying because if it's nice weather then it must be dark outside, if it's bright, then it must be raining. The TV is showing the same show nearly every day, and you begin to think that all channels are called 'Dave TV'.
So what can you do, you can't afford another model, new Tx/Rx, or new servos. We have the answer!!!!
Yes, we need a new logo, the old Lancaster Bomber is looking tired. So brush the debris off the bench, get your pen and paper out and start some doodling. Come up with something unique, relative the the club and submit it to me (David Smith) before the AGM and we'll vote on it. The prize is both fame and fortune, fame in that your design will be seen by thousands in the future as they flock to our web-site and secondly, for the fortune, well we're giving away a gallon of fuel!
The above club apparently organise an auction each year (presumanly with modelling gear) and this year we have contacted to see if we wanted to attend (this was via one of our members Eddie Bewes who also belongs to the Blackpool Club who will be going). If you want more information or to attend then please contact Phil Leech at Blackpool on philxy.leech@blueyonder.co.uk.
The event takes place at St Bernadettes Social Club, Bury New Road, Whitefield, M45 7SX on Nov 3rd. Last year there were over 300 lots and 100 guests attending. Registration this year will be from 3.30pm till 7.30pm with the auction starting at 8.00pm. Get there early to bag a bargain.
Having contacted the BMFA today (5th Oct 2011) I can confirm the following re the 3rd party insurance cover:
1. If a member flies the club trainer then they are covered through their own membership.
2. If an instructor is training a member using the club trainer then both are covered through their own individual memberships.
3. The BMFA policy provides for what they call 'New Member Taster Sessions'; this covers any prospective member (in the same manner as a BMFA member) flying on a buddy-box system with an approved instructor for up to a maximum of 3 sessions flying. Note this is NOT 3 flights but on 3 seperate occasions (typically 3 days) with an unlimited number of flights during each session.
Please note that due to the imminent start of the Bird Study you must contact Titch prior to flying on any day as per what was agreed at the recent club meeting dated 22nd Sept 2011. Note this is not meant to be something arduous or indeed are you seeking 'permission to fly'; this in the end is for our benefit and is just to let the ornithologist doing the study know when someone is likely to be flying through contact with Titch.
This means that from October 1st we MUST inform Titch prior to going flying; this includes Saturday and Sunday and can be done by ‘phoning Titch(just leave a message if he is out) or e-mailing him (both these details are available when you logon to the web site).
I have attached the club meeting minutes for the 22nd Sept 2011 to the 'members only' club documentation area and a Nomination Form to the public club documentaion area.
Please note some of the important items agreed in the minutes and start thinking about who you want running your club next year and download that nomination form.
Please note that the Trimpell Club has kindly offered us their committee room for this meeting FOC due to our help with their Charity Fun Day. The date of the meeting will remain as the 22nd of September, a Thursday. I appreciate that this day of the week is not suitable for everyone and I will minute a discussion to rotate our meetings over different week days or to at least debate the issue. Other points that need discussing include:
1. Update on CASC
2. Reminder to let me know when members are intending to fly during the winter months (i.e. from 1st Oct) to take account of the Bird survey
3. Reminder to let people know that we will need to elect new committee at the AGM and give them time to canvas
4. Discussion on whether we should join the Trimpell Club to make it our base for meetings, indoor flying etc
5. Decision on the day of the week for future meetings.
6. Club Fuel : how much, availability and how to pay for it.
7. Report on the success/failure of the Trimpell Sport and Social Club day - do we want to do more of these in the future?
8. Ideas for making the club more popular? Is membership falling and will this impact us next year?
Any other matters etc that members want to discuss please let me know.
I am trying to arrange a club meeting for Thursday 22nd. However the William Mitchell has decided that their 'function room' has always been £75 for the evening - I did say that we didn't want to buy it, just hire it, but that didn't make any difference so I'm waiting to see if our new friends at the Trimpell Sports and Social Club can accomodate us on that night.
We have ordered 4x 5L of 20% and 5% and 16X 5L of 10%
We are selling this at the same price we have payed for it so please do not ask for credit we need to put the money back into the club funds so we can re order if required.
The following are the prices
5% £10.68
10% £13.12
20% £18.00
Some has already been sold so if you want some fuel Bob Titch and Chris are the prople to contact.
There comes a time in every mans life when he has to make some big decisions, life changing decisions, these choices may not always be popular with the masses, but a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do. This is just one of those times in my life.
So it is with some fear and trepidation that I must announce to my fellow members of LAMMAC that I am moving over to the dark and some say magical side of our great hobby. I know some of you will snigger and make snide comments when I walk past you on the field but a man has to follow his heart.
I am leaving behind the dirty, noisy and oily engine, and moving to the quiet, clean, even respectable way of the motor.
I have slowly been seduced by this thing called electrickery. I know you think dark forces are at large but i am in sound mind.(keep your comments to yourself)
Mutiny I hear you cry, but no i say, it is the way of the future, and one day all models will be powered this way. There will be a few lonely souls still gathering in secret to sniff methanol from jam jars in lonely back alleys on dark nights. Remembering the old days when nitro wasn't a dirty word, and wiping you model down with a dirty rag wasn't frowned upon by polite society, but one day they will see the light and join hands with the enlightened and give praise to the electron filled wires and batteries and engage with us again in the joy of electric flight.
But i digress
My model count is now 4 engine and 6 electric so the transformation is nearly complete.
In the next few days most of my engine stuff will be placed for sale on this web site at reasonable prices (in my opinion) so keep an eye out for a bargain.
Hi everyone. Please can I thank all of you, on behalf of our club and the Trimpell Sports and Social Club, for taking a whole Sunday off and coming down to the display the club were putting on. Although the weather let us down I think we did ourselves proud with the display (38 aircraft in total and around 16 members) we put on and how we conducted ourselves in front of the public - I'm sure we may have made some friends, possibly one or two new members, and we certainly made no enemies on the day.
I've already had a BIG THANK YOU from Mark Clements who was organising the event and asking to go back next year when he's ordered better weather. I'd like to thank the bravery of Adam Boon who ventured out into the really gusty winds to show how a 4-cell Squall can fly, zooming up and down the runway at high-speed and thrilling the crowd. I think it was much appreciated that we gave our shirt monies to the charities and this coupled with the small donation the company I work for totalled £140.
This has certainly proved that we can do it, that we can put on a great show and although it was hard work at some stages, I personally enjoyed the whole day, the camaraderie and the 'crack'! Thank you all. Now when can i go flying !!!!
A very sensible from Chris last night was that ALL electric motor powered planes that will be brought down as 'static' models must have one or more of their motor leads disconnected from the ESC; this allows you to pop a battery in for demoing control surface movements etc to the public but with no danger of the motor arming itself and starting up. Note that some of the flying models will be electric and we must be careful that batteries are NOT LEFT in these when they get put back on the static display.
It was also agreed that the club would pay for the polo shirts for members using them on the day but that any donations members then made towards the cost of the shirts would be given to the Trimpell Club's Charities.
Thanks to everyone for turning up for the meeting at the trimpell club.
I will be at the club on Sunday at 09.00. If you are in any doubt about the flying event taking place please call me on my mobile number, which you will find in basic members list after you have logged on.
If you have any questions or suggestions about the day please call or text me
Bob, hi. For the 12 members that have so far said they will come down the breakdown of shirt sizes is as follows :
Medium (3), Large (3) and XL (6) <--- don't know whether this says anything about us as modellers?
Personally re your previous comment, I'm willing to pay for the shirt and any printing (I'm not too impressed with tjose other badges but see Martin's view re saving on costs - and at this stage on time). However I feel that the club could easily pay for the shirts, this is a little bit of a marketing event for the club and it's not that too much cost, but again will go with the majority.
I have recieved from Martin 11 badges that the club had made a few years ago. They will need to be sewn onto the polo shirts once I get them (can anybody sew!!)
As for the display, If the weather is nice we could do a display using scale models with someone (Dave) talking about the aircraft and a seperate aerobatic type display not too aerobatic given the space we have but enough to get some interest.
Hi everyone. Personally I don't mind paying for shirt and logo but perhaps the club could afford it as we didn't put any event on like the trip to Cosford this year - this is up to everyone else.
Display - definitely! Aimless flying won't overly interest anyone. I have just written to Chris T suggesting something along those lines anyway but I aim to put together a pamphlet indicating what might be flying, when and by whom and the sort of manoeuvres each can perform. The pamphlet would also show details and hopefully pictures of the static models - so again, please send me any details and photos you have of all models that aim to be flown or are there as part of the static display. Oh and asap!
Somone - if necessary I will do it - can potentially use the radio mike based PA to announce what's being flown, what the pilot is aiming to do - what the plane is aiming to do when the pilot is aiming to do something entirely different! - and generally make the display look and sound more professional.
1.Do we intend to put together some sort of routine for the flying display to avoid aimlessly flying around?
2. Polo shirts are going to cost around £5 each plus whatever the cost of putting our club logo on to it is. Do we as a club need or want to spend that sort of money? would a simple badge be better? Its open to debate.
(1) Yes this in its self displays order and team work.Which to the viewers would show that this club is a safe club.Which in its self shows it is a good club for young people to join.
(2) Yes my feelings are that a badge would be far better.Because of cost,(10 years ago when Rod Colly was on), they had badges then for the members to buy.Maybe he still has one or two to let you see the type of logo and colour which was made up.Thanks
Hi everyone, this 'comment' is meant to be the start of a list of comments that members can add to as we work our way over the next fortnight to get ready for the above day. I've been in touch with the BMFA, providing details of the site, numbers of flyers etc, and they have accepted this and are forwarding to us details of increased insurance cover for the day - which is a good start.
Mark - the contact/organiser at the Trimpell - has come up with an alternative field layout should the wind be in a different direction on the day so in effect we have the potential for two take-off/landing areas at right-angles to each other.
The committee agreed that all the models that are brought down solely for display purposes are shown on the ground (less chance of damage) but perhaps if we have one table then models can be rotated onto the table throughout the afternoon so that members of the public can see them better. It may also be worth bringing some tent pegs and some suitable ties just to hold models on the floor should the wind pick up - not that we haven't ordered fine weather with low wind speeds for the day!
I'm producing leaflets that we can give away to the public should any of them show an interest in joining. Details by the way to me please of all models that you intend displaying including if possible make, engine size, wingspan, artf or full build, etc and if possible some good photos so that we could make up some display boards.
In an effort to reduce fuel costs to our members we have 4 gallons of 10% fully synthetic fuel purchased by the club for you to try for free
This is from Weston uk who provide a discount for clubs if they bulk order. So if this fuel is ok and everybody who uses it has no problems we will discuss at the next meeting how we wish to proceed, if we bulk order and then sell the fuel to you the cost would work out somewhere around the £14.40 mark per gallon.
So with the weather looking good for the whole weekend come and try the fuel and have a free flying weekend.
No, this is not a warning to put the sun block on - although it's not such a bad idea even for British weather - it's more of a comment that perhaps we should all be careful when the good weather finally comes. With past years of poor summer weather fresh in our minds perhaps we may all be tempted to rush out and grab that hour's flying when we can without too much of a thought about whether or not our models are fully prepared; then disaster strikes as some bolt comes loose, some battery fails etc. So please, when that weather does finally arrive and flying beckons again, do pause, consider your model and the rules and regulations about you, the pilot, ensuring that it is safe to fly and check your batteries, your linkages, your bolts, wing fasteners etc as we don't want any serious accidents as well as any needlessly crashed planes.
Perhaps something Bob sent me might serve as a light-hearted anecdote:
His request approved, the CNN News photographer quickly used his cell phone to call the local airport to charter a flight. He was told a twin-engine plane would be waiting for him at the airport.
Arriving at the airfield, he spotted a plane warming up outside a hanger.
He jumped in with his bag, slammed the door shut, and shouted, 'Let's go'.
The pilot taxied out, swung the plane into the wind and took off.
Once in the air, the photographer instructed the pilot, 'Fly over the valley and make low passes so I can take pictures of the fires on the hillsides.'
'Why?' asked the pilot.
'Because I'm a photographer for CNN' , he responded, 'and I need to get some close up shots.'
The pilot was strangely silent for a moment, finally he stammered, 'So, what you're telling me, is . . .
Mavis and I have the venue 'pencilled-in' for a visitation, but only if the weather is looking better than the current offering.
We are tentatively planning to travel down Thursday and camp over the entire weekend. (Peugeot motorcaravan, with an Osprey kite flying at the rear). There'll be tea and biscuits to hand should you wish to make the effort to find us.
Diesel fuel is now so expensive that we only travel when there's a good forecast in the area we wish to visit.

VISITOR
Good Morning Chris.
Would it be acceptable to those present if I were to bring my 18 year old Grandson down on Sunday?
He's expressed an interest in flying model helicopters, so I'd like to encourage him.
Very Best Regards.

Club Meeting 22nd September 2011 - Confirmed
Club Meeting 22nd September 2011
I am trying to arrange a club meeting for Thursday 22nd. However the William Mitchell has decided that their 'function room' has always been £75 for the evening - I did say that we didn't want to buy it, just hire it, but that didn't make any difference so I'm waiting to see if our new friends at the Trimpell Sports and Social Club can accomodate us on that night.
Please watch this space for further details.

We have ordered 4x 5L of 20% and 5% and 16X 5L of 10%

Moving over to the dark side
Hope to see you down the field in the near future
Electric Chris
Welcome to the Dark Side - finally you've seen the light!
Clean, quiet, easy starting, no mess, no fuss - that's the dark side!
Dark side?
Having just read your post I believe you should seek help.
I think you are in the middle of your MID LIFE CRISIS.
However,I'm not known for turning down a bargin so bring it on.

Of sound mind, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, thats all i have to say really.
Trimpell Sports & Social Club : LAMMAC Display - Review?
Trimpell Day - Electric Motor Powered Planes
A very sensible from Chris last night was that ALL electric motor powered planes that will be brought down as 'static' models must have one or more of their motor leads disconnected from the ESC; this allows you to pop a battery in for demoing control surface movements etc to the public but with no danger of the motor arming itself and starting up. Note that some of the flying models will be electric and we must be careful that batteries are NOT LEFT in these when they get put back on the static display.
It was also agreed that the club would pay for the polo shirts for members using them on the day but that any donations members then made towards the cost of the shirts would be given to the Trimpell Club's Charities.
chris's phone number for trimpell day
Thanks to everyone for turning up for the meeting at the trimpell club.
I will be at the club on Sunday at 09.00. If you are in any doubt about the flying event taking place please call me on my mobile number, which you will find in basic members list after you have logged on.
If you have any questions or suggestions about the day please call or text me
Looking forward to a good day

Polo shirts etc
Badges
Hi All
I have recieved from Martin 11 badges that the club had made a few years ago.
Badges etc and Display
Display
1.Do we intend to put together some sort of routine for the flying display to avoid aimlessly flying around?
2. Polo shirts are going to cost around £5 each plus whatever the cost of putting our club logo on to it is. Do we as a club need or want to spend that sort of money? would a simple badge be better? Its open to debate.
Display & Logo
(1) Yes this in its self displays order and team work.Which to the viewers would show that this club is a safe club.Which in its self shows it is a good club for young people to join.
(2) Yes my feelings are that a badge would be far better.Because of cost,(10 years ago when Rod Colly was on), they had badges then for the members to buy.Maybe he still has one or two to let you see the type of logo and colour which was made up.Thanks
Trimpell Sports & Social Club : LAMMAC Display
Details by the way to me please of all models that you intend displaying including if possible make, engine size, wingspan, artf or full build, etc and if possible some good photos so that we could make up some display boards.
free fuel this weekend
In an effort to reduce fuel costs to our members we have 4 gallons of 10% fully synthetic fuel purchased by the club for you to try for free
This is from Weston uk who provide a discount for clubs if they bulk order. So if this fuel is ok and everybody who uses it has no problems we will discuss at the next meeting how we wish to proceed, if we bulk order and then sell the fuel to you the cost would work out somewhere around the £14.40 mark per gallon.
So with the weather looking good for the whole weekend come and try the fuel and have a free flying weekend.
Free Flying this weekend!
This doesn't, of course, include the potential cost of crashed or lost planes, pilots please note!
And it doesn't help those without real 'engines' of course - but then again there's always the club battery!
See you there.
Good Weather - be Safe!
'Why?' asked the pilot.
'Because I'm a photographer for CNN' , he responded, 'and I need to get some close up shots.'
The pilot was strangely silent for a moment, finally he stammered, 'So, what you're telling me, is . . .

Weston Park Visitation.
Hi Chris.
Regards.
Derek.
