Our club is based, as the name implies, in the Lancaster and Morecambe area of the UK, in the county of Lancashire, close to the Irish Sea and the Lake District. We exist to provide facilities, camaraderie and training for everyone interested in model aircraft building and flying. We welcome people of both sexes and at any age, although stress the dangers of inexperienced flying especially without more experienced others around. The club does allow for those interested in flying radio controlled model helicopters but members predominantly fly fixed wing aeroplanes, be they gliders (tow launched) or powered by electric, including ducted fan, or petrol motors.
Members enjoy a discount with our nearest Model Shop, Model and Hobby World, and you can see their current collection of new and second-hand models by visiting http://www.lancastermodelshop.co.uk/mall/departmentpage.cfm/modelandhobbyworld/_356770/1
Members have been, in the past, allocated one of the 35Mhz channels to use but this is less of an issue these days with the advent of 2.4Ghz systems. The club's flying site is located approximately 5 miles south-west of Lancaster near Glasson Dock. It is situated alongside Jeremy Lane. To find the site approach Glasson Dock from the turning near the Stork Hotel. Follow the road until a mini-roundabout, turn left up and over a canal bridge, then bear left. Follow this road (Jeremy Lane) for approximately 400m when you will see our site on the left hand side. Please note that this is a members ONLY flying site. Visitors are welcome but must be accompanied by a member and spectators can view from the roadside. Remember that flying high-speed radio controlled models is very dangerous to humans, cattle and pets so please observe our rules as they are there for everyone's safety.
